London Green Chic
Freestanding Island and Feature shelving

This extension project in Wandsworth, London saw a neglected victorian townhouse transformed into a stunning home with exquisite design choices. As part of the project we were chosen to design the open plan kitchen and dining room. The single floor extension changed a tiny afterthought of a kitchen into a stunning light filled room complete with crittal framed glazing, a courtyard and a window seat.

Given the owner’s keen eye for colour and their passion for design, we started with a colour palette and built the kitchen around that. Opting for a dark green and with a full mood-board, it became clear that a focal point of the room would be a bespoke freestanding island. Other must haves were a stone shelf above a range cooker and a boxed canopy for extraction.
With these requirements in place and an expectation of budget and other constraints presented by the architecture, we decided upon a straight run along one wall, paired with an impressive free standing island and some more bespoke cabinetry after the fireplace to house laundry and utilities.

Our furniture style was driven by the clients mood-board, with clear preference for a simple timber shaker with exposed woodgrain. Next, we planned the appliances and features the customer wanted to incorporate. A Neff Fridge Freezer was chosen because space was at a premium on the single run. Added to this was a dishwasher, canopy for extraction, full sized waste and recycling bins, butler sink and a full sized Space Tower larder. The customer wished to use a range cooker they had previously that we worked into the layout.
Finally, from a hardware point of view, brass was the perfect pairing for our dark green cabinetry. The owner chose Corston Barlow and Bayswater knobs in Antique Brass finish and some antique brass cups from a previous project. This was paired with the Quooker classic in Patinated brass. The owner then finished the room with an antique dresser, and some stunning lighting and pieces to create a truly memorable kitchen.
