An Arts & Crafts Home in Petersfield
We've been fortunate to have worked previously with the owner of this Arts and Crafts house in Petersfield . They approached us as they were undergoing an extensive program of renovation to update this property and bring it in line with their needs as enthusiastic cooks and hosts.
James worked closely with the customer to create this striking and seamless design that hides a number of structural elements of the house that intruded into the kitchen space. Dark Stoneham handleless units were paired with brushed copper accents and a Cullifords Misty Carrara worktop in a matt finish to make an impressive backdrop for creating culinary magic.
In particular, the piers and the chimney extended out into the kitchen in an otherwise prime section. James worked hard to incorporate this into the design with a number of truly bespoke workarounds. The result is a uniform wall with feature ovens and a number of useful storage elements that turned a previously unusable area into a functional and beautiful space. Other design features included bespoke lighting to highlight the ovens and shelving and hidden storage that makes the most of any space available. Of particular note is the extensive larders and integrated trays.
The utility room is widely used as the main entrance into the property, so the owner wanted to make this feel more like an entrance room by hiding coats, shoes and washing facilities, thereby keeping the functionality of a utility room without obviously being one. The entrance into the kitchen was directly from the outside doorway and cut through the middle of the kitchen. James suggested blocking up this entrance, thereby enabling the fridge to be located in the perfect position in the kitchen and created a better location for this entryway.
An expansive island with seating area allows for informal dining, drinks and entertainment whilst putting on show the Bora Professional venting hob and the expertise of the cooks.
A separate drinks area houses a wine conditioning unit, storage and everything needed to create the tipple of your choice when entertaining
“The kitchen is now the perfect backdrop for cooking and entertaining, whilst still respecting the feel and flow of the house.”
